“Focus meditation, also known as focused attention meditation (FAM), is a type of mindfulness meditation that can help increase your awareness of the present moment.”
Some people like to use fractal videos for FAM, while I prefer things that are more stable. Every sense of a sensation is an act of FAM, and sensing a sensation is a frame we observe. One way to practice FAM is to look at a scene, preferably organic. The less motion usually the better, so it will be easier to maintain a stable frame to observe.
After you have found a nice frame, the practice is to stay with this frame. You can look at objects within your frame, but you should do so mindfully to avoid shifting your focus from the frame you are observing. It can be helpful to have a couple of objects that preferably won’t be hidden by anything during the session, so you will be able to shift from them while you observe, preferably less than 5 things.
Although sessions can be spontaneous, having something that will hide your object can reduce attachment to your thoughts. but possibly make the observation more difficult. if it is too difficult, change the scene, can be a scene inside your previous scene, a scene that contains your previous scene or a new one.
I recommend using my art for FAM. I have practiced FAM in various ways, and through my observations, I have gained many ideas that can deepen the FAM experience. When using my art, the frame is already set for you; just keep your sight within the frame. With practice, you will learn how to maintain longer observations and achieve deeper explorations.
Tip 1 – breathing from the noise can help focusing
Tip 2 – Specific music might help. My recommendation is ‘Argot Digamma – Luce Sia,’ preferably for listening in high-quality sound.
